Passenger trains first ran from Douglas to Peel in July 1873 followed by services to Port Erin in 1874, however railway usage for goods predates passenger services.

Apparently if you include all the quarries, breakwaters and even farms that used animal, human and mechanical propultion to move wagons and carriages along tracks, the total for the island is over 100.
