British Pathe

British Pathe claims to be the world's first and finest digital news archive allowing website visitors to preview items from the entire 3500 hour British Pathe Film Archive which covers news, sport, social history and entertainment from 1896 to 1970.
There are a number of news and information reels relating to the Isle of Man, these include:
- 27/08/1921: Steamer on the Rocks IOMSPC steamer 'King Orry' runs aground at New Brighton, Merseyside.
- 13/07/1922: Reading the Manx Laws Excepts from Tynwald Day 1922.
- 15/07/1926: Douglas Gymkhana Display by the Birmingham Motor Cycling Club.
- 16/06/1927: There's no place like home Crowds greet 328 Manx homecomers on White Star liner 'Alberic'.
- 1930: Our Civilian Army Various shots of soldiers from the 55th West Lancashire Territorial Division on the march. Infantry and machine-gunners undertake a mock battle near Ramsey.
- 14/06/1934: The Mannin Beg Racing cars set off from near the Villa Marina and race around Douglas streets.
- 10/06/1937: Point of Ayre Mail steamer 'Duke of Lancaster' runs aground on beach near the Point of Ayre.
- 30/05/1940: Peel and the west Views and commentary around the streets of Peel, St. Patrck's Isle and on the Isle of Man Steam Railway alongside the River Neb and through Glenfaba to St. John's.
- July 1945: Royal Vist to Isle of Man King George VI and Queen Elizabeth visit locations around the Island and attend Tynwald Day.
- 04/03/1948: RADAR beats Manx Fog Douglas Harbour is the first in the world to have RADAR installed as a navigational aid to ships.
- 1950: Isle of Beauty Travelogue following the 'Barker Family' as they visit various locations around the island.
- Summer 1954: Douglas Carnival Thousands form crowds along Douglas Promenade as a procession of carnival floats pass by.
- 15/08/1955: Royal Tour Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip visit the Island with Charles and Anne before going on to Scotland.
- 06/07/1959: Isle of Man Advertising film showing various locations.
- 31/08/1959: Horse Trams A look at Douglas Horse Tramway.
